About Us
Gorsky Jews are a distinct ancient Jewish community that has historically resided in towns and villages of modern-day Azerbaijan and North Caucasus republics of Russia. Also known as “Mountain Jews,” “Kavkazi Jews” or by their own self-designation “Juhuro”, Gorsky Jews descend from Persian Jews that had settled in the region. The Gorsky Jewish community in United States numbers about 15,000 people, with the majority living in the tri-state area.
YGP is a women-led non-profit organization powered by a group of professionals from the community, representing a diverse range of career paths, all driven by the mission to inspire and foster meaningful connections among young Gorsky professionals.
Our Vision
YGP is committed to inspiring a new vision for the next chapter of Gorsky Jewish community's legacy in the United States.
We are striving to create a welcoming environment where young Gorsky Jewish professionals of all religious observance levels can meet, network, share ideas and grow together. Through educational programming, mentorship opportunities, social events, Jewish holiday celebrations, and philanthropic activities, our goal is for YGP to be the place where you can continuously grow, learn, laugh, and feel a sense of community.
By investing into young Gorsky Jewish professionals today we are aiming to transform the future of our community tomorrow. Through our initiatives, YGP seeks to build a unique support network that will engage and empower the future generation of Gorsky Jewish leaders in all realms of life.
